Abstract

Few studies examine how immigrant origin students' sense of belonging and perception of racialization evolves in a multiracial setting. Fewer still examine how teachers are engaging in comprehensive racial learning through the explicit and hidden curriculum. This study addresses how one school is approaching the issue of race at this historical moment. It reveals that much can be learned from a school attempting to remain responsive to immigrant students’ needs even as the larger sociopolitical environment around race and immigration rapidly evolves.
