Thu, April 13, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk, Floor: Level 4, Sheraton Ballroom IV and V

Abstract

School-community partnerships have the potential to contribute positively to student outcomes through shared vision and responsibility for programming and student outcomes. This qualitative case study relates the perspectives of school and program personnel regarding aspects of their relationship and the impact of the partnership on student literacy proficiency and growth in a large urban district in Michigan. The findings highlight the variation in the scope and quality of district-program and school-program relationships. These relationships ultimately have implications for the implementation of interventions and student outcomes, particularly in the context of high stakes accountability, in this case the implementation of the Michigan Read by Grade Three Law.
