This qualitative study examines the ways that administrators, teachers, and parents contribute to a school with a “strand” bilingual program that promoted a positive view of students’ bilingualism at the school as a whole. I develop the notion of “distributed liderazgo” based on literature pertaining to distributed leadership, “liderazgo,” and multilingual ecologies to emphasize the multiple stakeholders and levels on which leadership is exercised with the collective mission to foment bilingual education beyond the classroom level. As part of the findings, I consider the actions taken and needed that contribute to the school’s multilingual ecology. The notion of distributed liderazgo is useful to consider how leadership practices can foster a school climate with an assets-based orientation to bilingualism.
