Historically women have faced challenges regarding having a place in leadership in the workforce (Krivkovich et al., 2021). Research points to the effectiveness of training and education for equality for women in the workplace yet there is a lack of research regarding whether women perceive workplace certificates as additional training useful to their participation in the workforce. To further explore the relationship of gender to perceived workplace certification usefulness, a Chi Square Test of Independence was conducted on data from the Adult Training and Education Survey (ATES) administered in 2016 by the NCES. The results for each research question using the Chi-Square Test of Independence were significant based on an alpha value of .05, χ2(3) = 65.12, p < .001.
