The paper examines the digital practices of children in Spain during the Covid-19 lock-down in 2020. As part of a larger European project, 10 children aged between 6 and 12 and their parents across Spain participated in this qualitative study inspired by the mosaic approach. Analysed with the capability approach, on one hand, we can see children developed digital “functionings,” i.e. new digital skills for their entertainment, socialisation, or learning, and also to manage risks and problems that arose from such practices. Further those acquired functionings remain in fact as new “capabilities” for the life after the pandemic, expanding their alternative choices.
