The study aims to understand the criteria schools and/or districts use in making decisions about which English learners participate in Alternate ACCESS for ELs summative assessment. An online survey was used to gather information on the decision making process from district and school level personnel during the winter of 2022. Survey data (N = 319) was analyzed and used to inform in-depth interviews that will be conducted in the summer of 2022. The study seeks to document insights that will help decision makers make well-informed assessment decisions regarding students' participation in Alternate ACCESS.
