Fri, April 14, 9:50 to 11:20am CDT (9:50 to 11:20am CDT), Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Floor: B2 Level, Imperial Ballroom

Abstract

Various research show many instances of mindfulness that support effective leadership by helping school leaders to gain positive perspectives and the ability to overcome problems. The path to school leadership in South Korea, including becoming an assistant principal or principal, is highly competitive. Scant attention is being paid to those in this situation, and such a dearth has reduced motivation and satisfaction in their working and personal lives. Accordingly, the purpose of the proposed study is to better understand self-care for supporting principal candidates and discover the difficulties faced by educational leaders in managing their stress. We need to provide proven tools for stress reduction—the mindfulness practices—to principal candidates. This study focuses on their well-being and emotional health.
