Nationwide, there has been a teacher shortage for years and the pandemic exacerbated this shortage even further. Teacher recruitment, retention and formation have never been so vital. In this qualitative study, both principals and teachers of urban Catholic schools are interviewed regarding these areas. Principals were asked to detail the innovative practices they are utilizing to recruit, retain, and form teachers. Conversely, forty teachers will be asked to what degree are these practices having an impact and recommendations for improvement. Comparison of principal and teacher interview data yields more authentic information regarding the quality, effectiveness and range of strategies being implemented.
