Sat, April 15, 9:50 to 11:20am CDT (9:50 to 11:20am CDT), Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Floor: B2 Level, Imperial Ballroom

Abstract

Background: Evidence is lacking on how different levels of policies influence comprehensive school physical activity (PA). Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to determine whether PA-related policies would predict reported recess, physical education, and other PA practices at the school, district, and state level in Arizona. Methods: Based on 130 school personnel's responses to the Comprehensive School Physical Activity Program Practices and Policies Questionnaire, a bivariate correlation and series of linear regression analyses were performed. Results: The implementation of PA-related policies were associated with an increase in respective practices in Arizona while controlling for demographic factors. Conclusion: Each state may benefit from research of this kind in order to better understand PA practices and promote children's health.
