Abstract

This study explores how to best prepare teachers to nurture strengths-based social-emotional learning in their classrooms. By leading small, monthly professional learning communities, we sought to support teachers in cultivating equity-focused social-emotional goals in their own classrooms, and to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach. The specific aim of this presentation is to explore the ways in which professional learning communities can support a strengths-based approach to social-emotional learning in schools.
