Abstract

Character education in schools is crucial for holistic student well-being, but how can we best train teachers to center character goals in their classrooms? Even though a growing number of comprehensive resources exist for educators to draw upon, a framework for how to prepare teachers to implement these resources is needed. Grounded in the literature on Professional Learning Communities (e.g., Dobbs et al., 2017; Van Meeuwen et al., 2020), this research supports educators in small monthly groups to identify and collaborate on teacher-identified character goals in their classrooms to explore best practices in teacher preparation for character education in schools.
