The last major consensus report on the direction of education research produced on behalf of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), Scientific Research in Education, was published in 2002. Now, 20 years later, the NASEM has produced a widely anticipated follow-up to that foundational work. One key difference between the release of the 2022 NASEM report and that of its predecessor is the role that social media platforms like Twitter play in communication surrounding research and policy. This study capitalizes on the unique opportunity provided by the release of the NASEM report to examine how research and related forms of information proliferate across Twitter, and the nature of the discourse surrounding them.
