Measuring Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Within Workplaces: Questioning the Structural and Measurement Models

Sun, April 16, 9:50 to 11:20am CDT (9:50 to 11:20am CDT), Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile, Floor: 4th Floor, Belmont - Avenue Ballroom

Abstract

BECO has operationalized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) standards for workplaces and has designed an Equity Audit to assess the extent to which workplaces meet these standards. Few DEI instruments have established psychometric properties; therefore, we examine and present preliminary findings on the statistical properties of the Equity Audit. Findings for confirmatory factor analyses demonstrate reasonable fit for the first order structural model, though qualitative findings call for more in depth analysis for how DEI constructs relate to each other (measurement model). We discuss our findings in relation to the measurement model and practical implications of DEI work within workspaces.
