The purpose of the systematic literature review is to describe and analyze the current research literature, using sociocultural theories of development and Critical Race Theory, that examine the implementation of anti-bias and anti-racist education within the field of early childhood education. This review addresses the lack of adequate and effective anti-bias and anti-racist education for young children. Thirty-five peer-reviewed articles were analyzed. Findings reveal the ways in which studies are conceptualizing anti-bias and anti-racist education, the impact of implementing anti-bas and anti-racist education on children, and the barriers educators face in implementing anti-bias and anti-racist. Findings from this review inform and address barriers and systems of support for advancing the understanding of anti-bias and anti-racist education within early childhood classrooms.
