Issues relating to higher education and sexual assault have recently become more public, leading to an increase in academic research on the convergence of these topics. Despite this, researchers examined how higher education and sexual assault intersect with disability, specifically relating to Intellectual Disability (ID). This qualitative work systematically searches and analyzes existing literature amongst two avenues of inquiry to determine how ID is represented in the current higher education and sexual assault research. The authors frame their work within Disability Studies in Education (DSE) and focus on the presumption of competence of all individuals, with specific emphasis on recognizing individuals with ID. Implications for future researchers and higher education policymakers are given.
