Abstract

Within higher education, there is a need to understand how to support and intentionally serve minoritized students pursuing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) degrees. This paper highlights the experiences of minoritized STEM transfer students engaged in experiential learning (EL) at Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), with a focus on institutional servingness. Results from multiple NSF-funded projects broadly address how HSIs support and facilitate students’ EL experiences. Implications for future research, policy, and practice, emphasizing servingness and how to better serve minoritized students in STEM EL at HSIs, will be discussed.
