Sat, April 15, 9:50 to 11:20am CDT (9:50 to 11:20am CDT), Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Floor: B2 Level, Imperial Ballroom

Abstract

This presentation will explore how a K-8 laboratory school utilized school-wide teacher research initiatives to create a culture of change and inquiry. The presentation will provide a theoretical framing for how centering teacher-driven research as a core element of school culture and change impacted the school as a whole, as well as the individual professional identities of the teachers involved. The goal of this presentation is to demonstrate how a system of teacher research as part of the culture of a school can provide new ways of thinking about professionalism, school culture, and change.
