Abstract

The elite graduates as schoolteachers (EGAS) have triggered global debates. This study analyzed 16 teachers of EGAS who have no teacher education experience and taking teacher as a long-term career in China where regarded as exam-oriented education but facing reform. Hoping to trace the career of EGAS, this paper explores how EGAS adapts to the differences between elite universities and schools, finding that: (1) adhere to elite taste and maintain advantages; (2) integrate into school and rationalize exam-oriented education; (3) encounter conflict. According to these, when the school's needs do not match EGAS's personal values, it will lead to disillusionment. Therefore, we should further discuss how to invite EGAS to participate in education reform rather than abstract labels.
