Abstract

Computer science is not easy to learn. Novice programming learners often encounter mistakes and exhibit misconceptions. To help students develop accurate understandings, a number of studies examine students' programming mistakes, aiming to identify common errors or misconceptions that students have. However, most studies focus on introductory programming courses for Computer Science- or STEM-major college students, limited work has explored misconceptions in the context of K-12 computing education. This study reports high school students' misconception in a data science foundation course.
