Professional Learning to Support Technology Integration: Teachers' Identification of Needs

Sun, April 16, 8:00 to 9:30am CDT (8:00 to 9:30am CDT), Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, Floor: B2 Level, Imperial Ballroom

Abstract

As classroom technology use rapidly expands, professional learning opportunities need to keep up and support teachers’ effective technology integration. In this study, we explored (1) the extent to which the type of technology-focused professional learning in which teachers participate is associated with their identification of needed additional professional learning and (2) the types of additional professional learning teachers identify as possibly valuable for supporting their technology integration. We aim to build an understanding of the perceived sufficiency of various professional learning types and identify what further professional learning teachers identify as needed to support their technology integration. We investigate these questions with data from 711 math educators who described their use of a specific technology to support student learning.
