Abstract

Although more individuals with Learning Disabilities (LD) are attending postsecondary institutions, they continue to have lower rates of degree completion than their peers. As such, this research examined the transition of Grade 12 students to life after high school by investigating their plans for after high school, use of a transition program, accommodations, and confidence in self-advocacy. Survey data were collected from 23 grade 12 students. Findings indicated that most students planned to attend postsecondary education, all students accessed at least one accommodation, and felt confident in their self-advocacy skills. However, the majority of students did not utilize their high school’s transition program. These conclusions will provide insights for developing services for students transitioning to life after high school.
