Interdisciplinary learning has become prevalent in recent years as a means of solving problems that we encounter in everyday life. There is a lack of experimental studies to investigate strategies to facilitate interdisciplinary learning. This study explored the impacts of learning and gaming scaffolds on the study of interdisciplinary subjects. A 2 × 2 experiment was conducted in which the first independent variable was learning scaffolds (prior versus after) and the other was gaming scaffolds (plugged versus unplugged). 134 seventh graders participated in the study. The results indicated that learning scaffolds significantly improved students’ learning outcomes. Moreover, the effects of learning scaffolds in conjunction with gaming scaffolds improved interdisciplinary learning outcomes and induced positive emotions. Discussions and implications are provided.
