Abstract

This study aims to assess the impact of community services on K-5 students’ reading achievement. In collaboration with community partners and one Title 1 school, our study addresses the following questions:

• How did students who received community services perform on the criterion-referenced test (i.e., i-Ready) compared to those who did not receive community service?

• How did students who received multiple community services perform on the criterion-referenced test compared with those who received only one type of community service?

• Did students’ improvements on the criterion-referenced test (i.e., i-Ready) vary by different types of community services?

• Did students’ improvements on the criterion-referenced test (i.e., i-Ready) sustain from fall (August) to winter (December) or from fall to spring (May)?
