Abstract

The Journal of Urban Learning, Teaching, and Research (JULTR) is seeking proposals for a special issue on “Illuminating Effective Practices, Approaches and Strategies in Urban Education.” This special issue is intended to highlight specific practices, approaches, and strategies in urban landscapes that buttress the academic growth of students; articulate efforts that support highly-effective and highly-qualified educators (teachers, assistant principals, principals, school social workers, school counselors, school psychiatrists, and school district personnel); and elucidate the manner in which well designed research, with an equity focus, extinguishes binary false narratives regarding urban education. A secondary purpose of this call is to offer future generations of emerging scholars (graduate students and post-docs) the opportunity to generate critical thought and conversation regarding the current conceptualization of topics in urban education and bring forth unforeseen topics that are on the horizon in urban education (Williams et al., 2021).
