This qualitative study explores linguistic identity constructions of adult emergent multilingual (EM) learners in an online English classroom during the COVID-19 pandemic, a timespace configuration we call the Coronatope. A super-diverse community of adult EM participants created and shared language portraits to represent their linguistic identities. Then, a critical narrative analysis was applied to examine participants’ linguistic identity constructions across scales of time, space, and personhood. Our findings revealed that raciolinguistic chronotopes of anxiety and resistance were present in our focus group dialogues.
