Abstract

This study examines the collaborative efforts of educational leadership faculty to strengthen programs’ goals and develop program candidates’ capacity to be equity-minded and antiracist leaders. Over an academic year, tenure-track and adjunct faculty met monthly to collaborate on developing or redesigning core assignments or assessments in five graduate courses. By examining courses together, team members gained a greater sense of the department’s educational leadership programs. The professors concluded that having all program professors understand the work across courses in the programs, including key readings and assignments would further strengthen the department’s ability to meet the departmental mission related to equity and social justice. This study can inform the field through documenting both the content and process of program improvement.
