With artificial intelligence (AI) technology increasingly reshaping society today, AI education from an early age is crucial to understand its impact on people’s lives. This has increased the importance of promoting students’ awareness of AI. Although efforts are being made to infuse AI learning in K-12 education, there is little research exploring how this learning can be effectively measured for students’ conceptual understanding and application of these concepts to solve real-world problems. In this study, we conducted an AI education program in fifth-grade classrooms and investigated outcomes for students’ AI learning through pre- and post-tests. High Cronbach’s alpha values for the assessment items indicated good consistency, and the results of this study revealed statistically significant knowledge gain in student learning.
