Abstract

Various factors can influence learning transfer of new nurses during their first year at work, but little has been research about this from the university degree. This study aims to explore the effect of previous working experience –in health- on learning transfer factors among new nurses. We applied the METEnf model to 196 new nursing professionals to measure learning transfer, its factors and some nurses’ characteristics. By a cluster analysis, 3 clusters emerged but ANOVA tests did not find interaction between previous work experience and learning transfer. Cluster #3 (high academically prepared and high self-confidence) showed higher levels of transfer. We discuss examining the effect of having previous health-related VET studies to understand learning transfer of new nurses.
