The concept of the hidden curriculum has been used to demonstrate the unseen ways that sociopolitical norms surrounding behavior, race, gender, social class, dis/Ability, sexuality, and the intersections of these are taught in schools. There has been less attention paid to the ways in which a hidden curriculum of Christonormativity is perpetuated in equity-oriented teacher education. Through a discussion of what Christonormativity is and how it works, and some examples of curricular and pedagogical decisions that are commonly made in equity-oriented teacher education programs, this paper begins to surface the hidden curriculum of Christonormativity, and offers possibilities for moving away towards Christonormative conceptions of equity in teacher education.
