Abstract

Over the last decade, more research pertaining to the experiences of Latinx families with children on the autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has emerged. Utilizing a systematic search, the purpose of this scoping review was to identify the quantity, breadth, and methodological characteristics of literature examining Latinx caregivers of ASD. A total of 43 articles were coded and analyzed for inclusion in this final review. The studies in our final set were qualitative (47%), followed by quantitative (23%) and mixed methods (21%). Single subject studies (5%), literature review (2%) and commentary (2%) represented a low percentage of the total sample. Three emerging themes were identified 1) diagnosis barriers and facilitators 2) system changes, and 3) interventions and programs.
