Abstract

The popularity of blended learning raises the question of how to improve student satisfaction with this mode that combines online and face-to-face learning. A total of 787 university students participated in the study. Student questionnaires were used to investigate the relationship between students’ perceived autonomy, intrinsic motivation, student engagement and student satisfaction. Results from a Structural Equation Model (SEM) revealed that students’ perceived autonomy is not positively related to students’ satisfaction, while intrinsic motivation and student engagement played a chain mediating role in the relationship between students' perceived autonomy and student satisfaction. These findings contribute to a better understanding of how to improve students’ satisfaction in the blended learning context. Suggestions for the future research were also provided.
