This population-based study sought answers to two key questions: 1) to what extent do demographic characteristics influence AP enrollment among high school students and 2) to what extent does the intersection of racial/ethnic identity and socioeconomic status influence AP enrollment? In pursuit of those goals, the researchers conducted a multilevel mixed-effects logistic regression. Findings indicated that both race and socioeconomic status relate to AP enrollment, and that intersections of these identities can exacerbate that relationship. Results are discussed through a Quantcrit lens with the goal of advocating for equitable enrollment in AP coursework among students in marginalized groups.
