Abstract

This study aims to compare the cultural orientations of the high school students, who were identified and non-identified as gifted, living in Turkey. A total of 688 adolescents, selected by convenient multistage sampling, aged between 13 and 19, who lived in 14 different cities in seven regions of Turkey, have participated in this study (non-identified = 345, identified = 343). The Individualism and Collectivism Scale is used. MANOVA and F-test were used for the analysis of data. The results have shown that the allocentricism factor of the gifted is significantly lower than the non-gifted. Compared to their non-gifted peers, a significant difference has not been observed, although the idiocentricism means are higher in favor of gifted students.
