Thu, April 13, 11:40am to 1:10pm CDT (11:40am to 1:10pm CDT), Hyatt Regency Chicago, Floor: East Tower - Exhibit Level, Riverside West Exhibition Hall

Abstract

This meta-analysis study aims to evaluate the aggregate effect of STEM PD programs. A total of 941 effect sizes were calculated in 119 studies published between 2010 and 2022. The overall effect size was .739 which is a large effect size on the PD effectiveness. Substantial heterogeneity of the effect sizes was moderated by PD dosage hours and grade levels. The pooled effect size is getting larger when the program spent larger than 80 hours. Additionally, if the study focused on the specific grade-level, the magnitude of the effectiveness of PD is larger than the combination of different grade-level groups. This study provides insights into education research and policy communities to ensure how PD can be designed and implemented.
