Based on the TALIS 2018 Shanghai data, this study adopts structural equation modeling, mediation effect analysis and multiple indicator multiple cause model to explore the impact of school climate, work stress and job satisfaction on junior middle school teachers’ innovation ability. It is found that both school climate and work stress can affect the job satisfaction of junior middle school teachers, thus influencing their innovation ability, and work stress plays an intermediary role in the relationship between school climate and job satisfaction. In addition, whether to view teacher as the first choice of profession or not and whether the school is public or not have a significant impact on junior middle school teachers’ innovation ability.
