Abstract

This study aims to contribute to digital literacy exploration from parents’ perspective in their collaboration with schools. In this pilot study, we developed an instrument of parental digital literacy for home-school cooperation (PDL-HSC) based on the Digital Competence (DigComp) framework. 261 parents responded to this instrument, a principal component analysis was performed, and results showed four components labelled as digital content creation, information and data literacy, problem solving and safety, and communication and collaboration. All these components were positively associated with all aspects of parental involvement for children’s digital learning, except for parents’ monitoring. In future, confirmatory factor analysis can be conducted by collecting new data and the relationship between PDL-HSC and students’ learning outcomes can be further explored.
