Abstract

Turkey has received about four million Syrians, and half of them are at schooling age (PMM, 2022). Turkey has implemented different models to meet Syrian children's educational needs. UNICEF and the Ministry of Education collaborated to increase the number of Syrian students with the project of "Promoting integration of Syrian kids into the Turkish education system”. In the project, Syrians have been hired as a teacher. However, many factors reshaped their roles in the Turkish educational system. Syrian teachers’ intellectual and professional capacities are often undervalued when teaching in Turkish schools. This paper focuses on how Syrian teachers experience educational migration in everyday activities and how their experiences and identities are shaped by the potential devaluing and discouragement teachers face.
