Background: Several studies have revealed that exploring perfectionism profiles is critical. However, less research has explored how perfectionism profiles are related to high-achieving students in the mathematics field. Objective: This study adopted a person-oriented analysis to investigate the perfectionism profile of ninth grade high achievers in math. Methods: The relationships among variables were analyzed from 222 responses obtained from a questionnaire survey. Results: Girls are more concerned about others than boys, whereas boys perceive more parental expectations and overall expectation beliefs than girls; in addition, boys have higher avoidance performance in math achievement goals than girls. High-achieving students tend to compare themselves with their peers with higher abilities and care about the evaluations of others and their parents' expectations.
