Within this paper we present a Non-Canonical Curriculum with children (NCC) - a kind of curriculum based primarily on ideas from non-Western philosophy, and which values affect and emotion just as much as reasoning and argumentation. Our questions speculate how children respond to NCC and further seek to think about the many ways NCC impacts learning. We recognize that existing studies have investigated the impact of Philosophy for Children (P4C) which has focused on reasoning and argumentation, and has largely excluded emotion and affect. We critique the current curricula in a Canadian context and argue that excluding emotion and affect from curriculum-making and philosophical practice with children is pedagogically and epistemically unjustified.
