Abstract

Postsecondary enrollment is declining across the United States. The U.S. Department of Education’s Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) initiative focuses on increasing the college-going rate of low-income students through targeted university-community partnerships (UCPs). In this study, we share our community-based methodology for developing a survey to explore family post-secondary perspectives and plans during the pandemic. We focus on family awareness, access, and utilization of postsecondary planning resources and actions. By understanding what postsecondary resources families have access to, collaborative interventions unique to each community can be developed to increase awareness and utilization.
