This paper reports on a 2020-2022 project that investigated sensory-affective experiences of school buildings, by (1) forging an interdisciplinary team from Education, Architecture, and Design who (2) worked collaboratively with young people and school staff, (3) using sensory ethnographic methods and mapping software to produce (4) new research methods for studying learning environments, and (5) visual maps and 3D models of the lived architecture. This project generated new mapping methods that effectively represent the complex spatial practices and affective atmosphere within schools after Covid-19, whilst increasing young people’s understanding of the built environment.
