Abstract

Computer-based collaborative learning environments have been developed to bring the possibility to connect learners, whether geographically apart or together, to accomplish the same task in a collaborative and interactive way. Meanwhile, immersive technologies such as virtual or augmented reality have been extensively adopted to support learning in diverse educational contexts. However, our understanding of the impacts and implications of immersive technologies in collaborative learning is still limited. In response, this proposed study systematically reviews the recent relevant literature and analyzes current issues and trends of immersive technologies in collaborative learning. Overall, our results show an analytic synthesis of our reviewed articles and their empirical insights on implementing immersive technologies to promote collaborative learning.
