Abstract

Across the nation, Pennsylvania is one of the poorest performing states as it relates to educator diversity, equity, and culturally relevant and sustaining education and education systems. In that vein, the Pennsylvania Educator Diversity Consortium—a grassroots organization that uses a Collective Impact framework to address systemic inequities in education in Pennsylvania has been working to transform the current system through policy and other strategies. In this paper I examine the ways PEDC has shifted policy in Pennsylvania to ensure that all teacher preparation programs are culturally relevant and sustaining educational institutions. This paper examines the implications for the future of teacher preparation and the profession as a whole in Pennsylvania.
