Abstract

This paper documents an effort to provide a shared learning experience to graduate students in educational leadership and school psychology. This attempt at interprofessional preparation during pre-service is essential for creating what Edwards (2011) calls the “relational expertise” necessary for interdisciplinary colleagues to seek cross-sector solutions in practice. Such collaboration carries critical implications for schools and students, particularly so for intersectionally marginalized and/or multi-system involved youth: those whose needs are rarely met by fractured silos of inadequate support. Using a phenomenological research approach to study two cohorts’ experience with the interprofessional learning space (2019-2022), the research findings offer insights that can help translate pre-service experience into educators’ eventual collaboration in schools.
