Thu, April 13, 4:40 to 6:10pm CDT (4:40 to 6:10pm CDT), Hyatt Regency Chicago, Floor: East Tower - Exhibit Level, Riverside West Exhibition Hall

Abstract

Resilience is important in understanding the psychological health risks and trauma among mental health counselors. Given their marginalization, LGB mental health counselors might experience maladaptive factors to a greater degree and possess differences in resilience. This study investigated resilience differences between LGB and heterosexual mental health counselors. The study consisted of 523 mental health counselors who completed the Connor Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC). Mean differences were assessed between heterosexual and LGB mental health counselors. Implications and limitations were provided.
