Cultural Historical Activity Theory (CHAT) is an increasingly common approach for studying organizational learning and change. This paper contributes to imagining a fourth-generation CHAT by engaging in diffractive readings of the approach through/with concepts from Queer Theory that resist the urge to simplify, straighten, and resolve disruptions to the 'norm.' This dis/orientation responds to calls for CHAT to grapple with issues of power, privilege, identity, and emotions by holding space for 'queer mess' and complexity.
