Technology-enhanced problem-based learning (PBL) provides meaningful learning experiences for students but presents challenges for teacher orchestration. Teachers need to attend to classroom management and facilitation on learning across multiple levels during orchestration. Technology troubleshooting, while an undesirable component of orchestration, is almost inevitable in teaching practice in technology-enhanced classrooms. This study adopted interaction analysis to unpack the critical moments when the middle-school teacher transformed troubleshooting into learning opportunities for students to engage in collaborative inquiry in game-based PBL. The findings will foster the acceptance of technology imperfection in classrooms, and inform researchers and practitioners to support PBL.
