Abstract

This study seeks to identify divergent perceptions of the presence of culturally responsive characteristics in a North Texas high school. Utilizing qualitative and quantitative data, interviews and observations, researchers identified inconsistencies in survey results, interviews, and observations between stakeholders’– students, teachers, and administrators’--perceptions on the presence of culturally responsive practices. Researchers note a deficit orientation towards students and resistance to utilizing evidenced-based data in co-creating an action-oriented plan to implement school-wide culturally responsive practices to create a positive school climate and culture for all stakeholders.
