Engaging Teachers in a Design-Based Implementation Research Community to Develop Information and Communications Technology–Enabled Problem-Solving Skills (Poster 6)

Abstract

This poster reports on a new attempt to create a design-based implementation research (DBIR) community, where researchers and practitioners collaboratively negotiate and achieve goals to address the challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration. This poster describes our efforts to develop teachers’ information and communications technology (ICT) problem-solving skills by making scenario-based design (SBD) as the focus of the DBIR research–practice partnership were. An experimental case was designed to illustrate the implementation of an SBD approach to drive online collaborative design activities among participating teachers in the DBIR community to develop their collaborative problem-solving (CPS) skills. Results of the study indicated that after four weeks of scenario design activities, teachers’ problem-solving skills were enhanced, and teachers were motivated to engage in a large number of CPS behaviors throughout the design process.
