How Hope Education Can Foster Student Agency

Abstract

This study sought to identify how first grade students in one Midwest state cognized hope. From there the authors identify recommendations for practice that draw on the alignment between developing hope in students through agency. Previous research has highlighted the relationship autonomy plays in developing hope in students. This study went beyond and looked at ways that educational leaders can support student social emotional well-being in the daily curriculum through student agency.
